The team at Manidoo Gi-Miini Gonaan, a non-profit organization in Winnipeg, Canada, felt immense joy when Keiki Krate arrived with a generous donation of
Montessori-inspired wooden toys. Our mission is to walk alongside families, helping
children reach their full potential, and these toys have become an essential part of
fostering resilience, growth, and learning through play. The excitement was clear as
staff members explored the toys that would be shared across our childcare centers,
including R.B. Russell Infant Centre and Lord Selkirk Park Child Care.
Our CEO, Carolyn Young, was touched by a small push-along wooden turtle, finding it inspiring in its simplicity. Another staff member was thrilled to discover the Melissa & Doug Wooden Bear Dress-Up/Basic Skills Board, recognizing it as an excellent tool to help children develop essential skills like tying laces.
Promoting Inclusive Play & Reducing Stress For Families
Keiki Krate's toys have transformed our play spaces, offering children of all
developmental stages a chance to engage, create, and imagine. These toys encourage inclusive play, allowing every child to feel valued and included, no matter their abilities.
They became a bridge for children to connect, nurturing their creativity and confidence. Morning drop-offs and end-of-day transitions can be challenging, but the toys from Keiki Krate have become a comforting presence. They’ve helped children settle into routines with joy, making these moments less stressful for both kids and caregivers. The toys provide an opportunity for children to immerse themselves in play, easing the transition from home to our centers and turning potentially stressful moments into positive experiences.
Supporting Learning and Growth
The impact of Keiki Krate’s toys on learning has been incredible. Unlike many toys
today, these open-ended options don’t rely on batteries or screens; instead, they invite children to explore, create, and learn through hands-on experiences. As one of our educators mentioned, "Our children never complain about being ‘bored’ with these toys." The toys have inspired problem-solving, fine motor skill development, and self-directed play. It’s heartwarming to see how the children eagerly explore the endless possibilities these toys offer, allowing their imaginations to come alive.
Keiki Krate’s support has beautifully aligned with our mission at Manidoo Gi-Miini
Gonaan. Their dedication to fostering connection and learning has made a real
difference in our community. By contributing to our centers, Keiki Krate has helped us create spaces where children can learn, bond, and thrive. Together, we’re helping children grow stronger, more resilient, and more connected to the world around them. These moments of joy and the smiles on our faces captured in these photos are a testament to the impact that Keiki Krate has had, and we look forward to the many ways their toys will continue to inspire play, learning, and connection in our centers.
